Job Description
DESCRIPTION: Under general direction of the Public Works Director and direct supervision of the Public Works Operations Administrator, this position provides administrative support for the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for overseeing all utility billing and meter reading functions, as well as playing a key customer service role, including dealing with difficult customer inquiries and problems. This is a front desk position providing assistance to incoming visitors and phone callers. This position understands public trust and models the highest standards of personal and professional integrity of those working in public service.
CLASSIFICATION: Positions in this class are characterized by a thorough knowledge of office administrative duties and functions, and highly responsible clerical tasks. An employee successful in this position performs duties with minimal supervision and at times considerable independence. Job functions require the ability to think independently, use discretion and good judgment, apply strong communication and customer service skills, and to follow and carry out written and verbal direction. Abnormal working hours may be required from time to time. This is a FLSA non-exempt, full time position with benefit package.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance with demonstration of increasing office administrative abilities. Desired knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal public works administration and related rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Desired knowledge of grant processes and related administration.
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certificates
Must complete online training and testing with National Incident Management System (NIMS) through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within six (6) months of hire and maintain current/ongoing certification as needed.
