Townsend Arborcare provides residential tree trimming, stump removal and a variety of additional debris removal services to business office complexes, golf courses and communities governed by homeowner’s associations.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Residential Services – Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction, estimating job costs, and achieving budgeted sales goals in residential and commercial tree work for a defined territory. He or she will have continuous communication and daily in-person appointments with customers and prospects to create customer quotes, schedule services, set up crews and equipment, monitor work performed, and ensure jobs are completed to the customer’s satisfaction.
Responsibilities
DUTIES INCLUDE
Essential Functions:
- Building and Managing the Sales Territory
- Builds and implements a Territory Sales Plan for his/her Territory in conjunction with Senior Management
- Develops pricing models
- Engages in sales prospecting using consultative sales techniques to build long-standing relationships
- Obtains referrals and develops new business
- Attends home shows, trade shows, community events, and other opportunities to demonstrate Company capabilities
- Meets with prospective clients to provide estimates for tree work
- Creates job estimates and provides quotes in a timely fashion
- Reviews scope of work with customers
- Actively pursues the customer’s commitment to scheduling the work
- Meets sales goals and provides results
- Customer Service and Relations
- Meets with current client representatives frequently to discuss the status of work, to proactively identify and resolve problems, and to assure customer satisfaction
- Ensures high quality arboricultural and other work is performed in assigned operations at all times
- Utilizes sales process tools, software, and other technologies to streamline the process for the customer
- Follows up with customers - resolving issues as needed
- Keeps track of customer interactions using the Company's sales management tool, regardless of sales success, for future reference and follow up
- Production Planning and Scheduling
- Maintains communication with the General Manager regarding estimates scheduled, completed, and work that has been sold
- Communicates regularly with the Project Manager to schedule and complete projects
- Drafts work orders and instructs Project Manager on key elements of job scope/requirements to ensure that executed work meets the clients' expectations
- Continuously inspects and measures planned and completed work
- Looks-ahead to proactively identifying issues that could lead to problems and facilitates solutions
- Manages storm restoration activities
- Supervision and Leadership
- Communicates activities with the Project Manager through regular property visits and group conference calls/meetings
- Understands and effectively oversees and monitors Company policies and procedures
- Contract Management
- Possesses thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of each contract, each subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications, and addenda
- Ensures compliance with all customer contract terms and conditions, all specifications, and all legal requirements
- Deals with individuals at the corporate office requiring information
- Administration
- Keeps required records of activities and regularly reports to General or Regional Manager on issues, progress or delays, and achievement
- Safety and Training
- Actively promotes a safety culture; participates in Corporate safety program and monitors compliance
- Assists with crew training on proper Tree Care techniques and reviews crew work for quality and efficiency
- Works with corporate safety and senior management on incident investigations
- Works with corporate safety and corporate office to assess and settle legal and damage claims quickly, efficiently, and sensitively
- Quality Control
- Regularly monitors Company telephone and email and maintains open and consistent communication with supervisor, corporate office, and clients
- Keeps cost records on work performed; implements improvement processes
- Participates in monthly financial and job reviews as assigned by General or Regional Manager and senior management
- Surveys bid projects and assists with bidding projects
Secondary Duties:
- Reports to work outside of regular work hours for emergency operations
- May be assigned to perform the duties and functions of a direct supervisor or subordinate employee when that person is absent
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Two (2) years Sales Experience or five (5) years of directly related experience as a first-line project or field manager/group leader in a Residential or Utility Tree Care Company
- Certified Arborist status from International Society of Arboriculture (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Licensed Pesticide/Herbicide Applicator with an R/W subclass (in State of employment) (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Valid Drivers’ License in State of residence; Driving record meeting Company’s standards for employment
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position
- Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
- Be at least 18 years of age, or 21 if CDL is required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred:
- Six (6) years of experience in arboriculture or residential/commercial tree care sale
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Arboriculture, Business Management or equivalent discipline
- Conversational knowledge of the Spanish language
- CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification
OTHER SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES
- Experience in outside sales, generating new business leads, and networking
- Knowledge of Residential Tree Work, including estimating time and costs
- Working knowledge of established industry hazards, standards, practices, procedures, and techniques (both manual and mechanical electrical line clearance methods, including pruning and climbing skills)
- Working knowledge of equipment and tools used in assigned processes
