    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team in our St. Cloud, MN office.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

     

    In this role you will perform activities related to the design of storm water management systems, earthwork, piped utilities and other site infrastructure in support of the land group. We are seeking an Engineer who shares our passion for high quality design, loyal to clients and a fast paced work environment. This position will serve as a member of an integrated design team and be responsible for compiling civil design plan sets alongside other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets. Clear and concise written and verbal communication is imperative.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Prepare design documents for civil systems (land development, transportation, municipal, drainage, water and sanitary sewer design), including calculations, drawings and civil specifications
    • Review preliminary and final plans and specifications for constructability and risk management
    • Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the local office; serve as a liaison between senior engineer and design team
    • Assist the Senior Project Civil Engineer/ Project Manager in preparing the conceptual, preliminary and final design and attends meetings with client to coordinate various design activities and is responsible for providing material lists for quotations.
    • Assist with other duties assigned by Project Managers and/or Project Engineers.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
    • 0-5 years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry
    • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with department personnel and office staff; must possess strong oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient with Civil 3D
    • Must be detail oriented and efficient in problem solving
    • Must have interest in land development and site design

    • Coordinate monthly annual vendor survey activities including tracking supplier status until completion, Quality Engineering review, approval and categorization, Quality Management System data entry and scanning.
    • The successful candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of Windows based computer programs. Experience with LN preferred. Accuracy, attention to detail, and record maintenance skills are essential.
    • Negotiate with suppliers on charge backs to support financial accounting by initiating replacement part POs and credits. Maintain working relationships with suppliers in order to process warranty claims and purchase orders and negotiate priority rework of returned parts or delivery of new replacement parts.
    • Maintain and status online tracker to communicate with various departments to order replacement arts, monitor rework orders, RTV bad parts and negotiate subsequent warranty claims.
    • Evaluate defect as reported by operations and gather required information to determine proper action. Coordinate and perform RTV (Return to Vendor) activities including Piper documentation, status tracking of hardware, negotiating return authorizations or determining the need to scarp, assuring warranty claims are filed and detailed purchase order complete.
