SUMMARY
Processes scrap metal. Performs daily plant functions as assigned by operations Group Leader. The responsibilities of this position include, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in the protection of the environment and reduction of pollution from the activities within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows safety guidelines and procedures
- Follows all written instruction to perform receiving, storage and shipping functions.
- Operates equipment such as overhead crane, forklift, truck mobile and baler machine and any other equipment as needed.
- Ensures paperwork is completed accurately.
- Participates in team meetings and trainings.
- Active involvement in kaizen program
- Cleans work area according to 5s standard
- Assists in other areas as time permits

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.High School Diploma or GED; and one to three months related experience and/or training.Crane license, forklift (may be obtained during first 3 months of employment). GMI, Inc. unique training may be obtained during first three months of employment. Additional training will be provided as a part of Continuous Improvement.Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. - The employee will be required to wear protective clothing, gloves, hard hat, and respirator, as specified in the various processes and/or instructions. The employee will also be required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee is required to operate overhead crane in cabin attached to the crane at the height of 28 feet from the ground. A person with acrophobia may not be qualified.
