    Trace Data is developing a ground breaking product to help companies understand, monitor and secure their enterprise data. We're integrating the world of security, observability and connectivity.

    We're looking for people with a strong background or interest in building successful products or systems; you're comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; you have exquisite attention to detail; and you're comfortable learning new technologies and systems.

    Our Observability Engineer designs and builds embedded monitoring agents that collect metrics and data from diverse runtimes and technologies at massive scale. These are critical parts of our platform and the first point of contact with our customers infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and build runtime instrumentation agents that intercept data from applications and technologies.
    • Implement highly reliable and fault tolerant monitoring code with minimal overhead.
    • Collaborate design with other engineers so that agents and integrations works seamlessly with our data ingestion layer and other parts of the platform.
    • Ensure performance and overhead are a minimum and work closely with team to find and address performance issues proactively.

    You may be fit for this role if you:

    • You have expertise in one or more systems/high-level programming language (e.g. Go, Java, Rust, C++) and the eagerness to learn more.
    • Deeply understand system level programming and how to write high performance concurrent systems code with minimal overhead on process, memory and network.
    • Have experience developing high performance agents using various techniques such as Sidecars, VM instrumentation, ServiceMesh proxies, eBPF and API gateways. 
    • Think about systems and services and write high quality code.
    • Pride yourself in writing high-quality code, high velocity and collaboration.
    • Pride yourself in your excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills in writing and verbally.
    • Curious and interested in learning new programming languages and technologies.
    • Have a Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
