JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for someone who is solutions-oriented, adept in relationship management and can expertly sell both commercial off the shelf access/fall protection as well as custom engineered systems to general contractors, developers, owners, architects, engineers, consultants, mid-level and executive management. IDEALLY THE INDIVIDUAL SHOULD UNDERSTAND TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT ACCESS AND SOME MEANS OF HOW TO PROVIDE IT.
You will be expected to make direct contact with potential customers, introduce the company and its expertise in access, and sell man-rated equipment, material handling equipment, as well as custom-engineered solutions FOR BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND FALL PROTECTION. On the periphery, you will be on the lookout for any potential acquisition targets that would complement the business. Travel is expected throughout the region.
A working knowledge of all aspects of general high-rise construction, civil infrastructure projects, and/or facility capital projects through previously established or current direct employment in these markets are required. This includes deep relationships with companies serving the general construction, architectural and multi-disciplinary engineering services and other related markets.
You can work persuasively with the customer to help develop their specifications; assist the project and estimating team develop a workable and saleable solution and execute a bid through concept to contract award. This will include managing the bid submission process. It should be understood that superior communications skills are necessary! In addition, you must be able to influence people both internal to the company as well as with our external contacts, customers, vendors, subcontractors and competitors alike. A meaningful part of this role will be in building a broader sales network of sales representatives covering the various verticals.
An engineering/engineering or relevant technical sales background is an asset and a working knowledge of scaffolding/swing stage/rigging is desirable. The ability to understand and apply a wide range of standard products in combination with custom engineered and fabricated systems is a necessary requirement (i.e. blueprint reading, devising possible fixes/solutions to challenges in the field, etc). Understanding basic business principals, contract negotiation, payment terms, insurance requirements and identifying risk is critical to being successful over the long term. Compensation will be a combination of base salary, commission and the company benefits plan. All business related expenses are covered by the company.
You must be able to travel through North America without restrictions and have authorization (PR or citizen) to work in the US without our support. Travel requirements may be extensive, but subject to your proper time and relationship management. YOUR WORK LOCATION CAN VARY DEPENDING ON YOUR GEOGRAPHY, BUT CAN VARY FROM BEING HOME-OFFICE BASED ACROSS THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES TO WORKING AT ONE OF OUR OFFICE LOCATIONS ACROSS THE US (San Rafael, CA, Houston, TX, Norwood/Boston, MA, Chaska/Minneapolis, MN, among others).
