HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Trade Compliance Advisor works closely with clients to identify trade compliance risk, recommends solutions to minimize risk and build solid trade compliance programs.
This is a REMOTE position.
EXPECTATIONS
- Ensure compliance with U.S. government regulatory agencies (CBP, FDA, EPA, USFWS, etc.)
- Conduct audits and risk assessments for clients, providing trade compliance recommendations
- Develop and manage project plans with key milestones and deliverables
- Create import and export compliance training to deliver to key clients and internal teams
- Analyze client information and data to identify opportunities for improvements
- Offer suggestions for process improvement and technology enhancements
- Assist in writing trade compliance processes and manuals to support trade compliance programs
- Build trusted relationship with internal and external partners based on open communication
- Stay up to date on regulations, guidelines, and company requirements
- Ability to work on multiple projects and manage various timelines, effectively prioritizing deliverables
ESSENTIALS
- Licensed Customs Broker strongly preferred. Willing to obtain if not already an LCB.
- 7 years of experience in trade compliance and brokerage, consulting experience a plus
- High school diploma/GED required, degree preferred
- Experience with trade compliance audit and risk assessments, identifying mitigation strategies
- Solid understanding of HTS Classification, Country of Origin, FTA, Valuation methods, and AD/CVD
- Experience with duty remediation strategies; HTS Engineering, Duty Drawback, First Sale, FTA, etc.
- Working knowledge of trusted trade programs like Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) and CTPAT
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office; including Excel and Access
- Clear and concise communication with experience presenting to large groups
