HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Trade Compliance Manager will lead the import and export compliance activities at a high-volume manufacturing site, including ITAR/EAR licensing, documentation, audits, and training to ensure adherence to all applicable customs and government agencies rules and regulations.
This position is hybrid near Cleveland, Ohio.
EXPECTATIONS
- Prepare, review, and submit applications for export licenses, exceptions, and exemptions
- Determine accurate product HTS and ECCN classification
- Review proposed exports & import activity, verify accuracy, and stop non-compliant transactions
- Conduct internal audits and implement remediation plans to correct and prevent non-compliance
- Create & maintain trade compliance procedures and processes – conduct training where needed
- Monitor regulatory changes and update internal procedures accordingly
- Advise leadership on compliance risks associated with business decisions, provide alternative solutions
- Generate and Monitor KPIs reports to share with leadership team
- Work proactively to streamline processes and minimize supply chain disruption
- Build solid relationships with internal and external business partners
ESSENTIALS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, equivalent experience considered
- Solid understanding of ITAR & EAR regulations; license, sanctions, anti-boycott
- 10+ years of experience in trade compliance with multinational manufacturing companies
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, country of origin, valuation methods, FTAs, AD/CVD
- Skilled at balancing detail and strategic focus, prioritizing under pressure, making sound decisions
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with audit and risk assessment of processes and documentation
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
