    Overview: 

    Our client is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to develop and execute operational strategies that drive business performance and growth. This position is a key executive leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the design & construction day-to-day operations and providing strategic direction to the company, while partnering with the Leadership team.

    Overall, the impact of this COO is multifaceted. This person will be touching on various aspects of operations, strategy, risk management, collaboration, leadership development, and customer satisfaction. This role is instrumental in driving SOPs for the organization's success and ensuring its long-term growth and profitability.

    This position will be headquartered in Chicago, IL with the exception of Nashville, TN as an alternative office. Travel will be required to facilitate on-site time at their various offices.

    Experience & Responsibilities Overview:

    • 15+ years of Experience within Commercial, Industrial or Multifamily Construction Niche
    •  Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Operations , or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    • Candidates should have proven success in senior leadership roles, with 5+ years serving as the senior leader of a $50-100M+ commercial construction company.
    • Strong leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and operational expertise to drive business performance and growth are critical.
    • Design, Implement & Oversee operational policies & procedures.
    • Experience leading litigation activities with subcontractor and owner issues. 
    • Conduct team huddles with Preconstruction, Operations and Design.
    • Conduct Go / No-Go & WIN meetings with executives, Preconstruction & Business Development. 
    • Provide leadership and oversight to the preconstruction team to ensure design & construction documents are complete before handoff to operations. 
    • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve the company's goals and objectives, with a focus on profitability and superb execution.
    • Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, and annual operations planning.
    • Assess and execute the company’s strategic plan, along with the leadership and management team, by taking a lead role in building and enhancing the company’s dual regional office operations.
    • Allocate resources, such as personnel, finances, and equipment, to different departments, regions, and projects to optimize efficiency and productivity.
    • Drive process improvement and implement changes to streamline operations and reduce costs. Lead company wide customer service initiatives, continuous improvement projects, profit enhancement opportunities and similar programs.
    • Leverage technology to advance Operations and drive efficiency.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to Divisional leadership and operational teams to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
    • Determine, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to track the performance of the company and identify areas for improvement.
    • Assess operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity and resilience. Must possess a high proficiency of construction delivery methods and contractual risk.
    • Collaborate with other executives, such as the CEO and CFO, to develop and execute overall business strategies.
    • Ensure, model, and lead clear communication and coordination between different departments and teams to facilitate smooth operations.
    • Proactively provide safety leadership and lead the Corporate Director of Safety in achieving best in class safety results.
    • Actively participate in business development efforts, maintain relationships with industry associations, key clients, design partners and subcontractors.
    • Monitor and evaluate Senior Vice Presidents of Operations, Vice Presidents, Construction Executives, and Corporate Director of Safety.
    • Develop direct reports by evaluating performance and creating growth opportunities consistent with learning plans.

     

    Compensation Overview:

     

    • Competitive Salary Range (DOE)
    • Vehicle Allowance of $1200/month + Gas Card
    • Bonus Incentive package up to 20% of salary
