Job Title: Traffic Control Technician Department: Field Operations Reports To: Traffic Control Supervisor FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Traffic Control Technician is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing traffic control devices to ensure the safe and efficient flow of vehicles, equipment, and pedestrians through construction zones and work areas. This position plays a key role in maintaining safety compliance and supporting the overall success of field operations at Earth Resources Corporation (ERC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with standards, set up, monitor, and remove traffic control devices such as signs, cones, barricades, arrow boards, and flagging stations.
Direct and control traffic around construction sites using hand signals, stop/slow paddles, or other methods to ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public.
Inspect work zones to ensure proper traffic control layouts and make necessary adjustments for safety and efficiency.
Communicate effectively with the Traffic Control Supervisor, equipment operators, and crew members regarding traffic flow and worksite conditions.
Perform daily safety checks and ensure compliance with all ERC and ADOT safety procedures.
Load, unload, and maintain traffic control equipment and vehicles.
Assist with project setup, cleanup, and general labor duties as directed by the supervisor.
Report unsafe conditions, near-misses, or accidents immediately to the supervisor or safety manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to obtain or maintain a Traffic Control/Flagger Certification in accordance with certification requirements.
Experience in roadway or heavy civil construction is preferred but not required.
Must be able to communicate clearly and follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to safety, awareness, and teamwork.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and stand for long periods.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
Must be alert and able to react quickly to potential safety hazards.
Work Schedule
Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts and Friday, 8-hour shifts (occasional weekends or nights based on project needs).
