    Signal Control Products is seeking a detail-oriented Traffic Systems Estimator/Order Entry Specialist to join our team in Branchburg, NJ. This role combines technical estimation expertise with order processing responsibilities, focusing on traffic control systems and related transportation equipment. The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience with a strong background in reading engineering documentation and developing accurate cost estimates. This position will include intake of customer orders and processing for shipment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Estimation & Analysis

    Estimate costs for traffic signal controllers, video detection systems, and cabinet maintenance projects.

    Analyze highway lighting and wiring requirements, pedestrian crossings, school flashers, and illuminated street signs.

    Review and interpret plans, proposals, specifications, and blueprints to identify project requirements.

    Develop comprehensive cost estimates while ensuring quantity accuracy.

    Research and gather proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related project documents.

    Proposal Management

    Prepare, finalize, and review preliminary and final proposals.

    Submit 100% of bids and budgets by specified deadlines without exception.

    Generate proposals and sales quotes based on cost analysis and inventory availability.

    Ensure all estimates meet company standards for accuracy and completeness.

    Track monthly bid summaries for management.

    Relationship Management & Communication

    Develop and maintain strong internal relationships with team members and vendors.

    Build and nurture external relationships with customers, DOTs, and contractors.

    Work directly with Manager on bid strategies and maintain consistent messaging across all stakeholder communications.

    Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    Technical Skills

    Strong ability to read, navigate, and interpret engineering documentation and project plans.

    Knowledge of estimation techniques and methodologies

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    Good understanding of project scheduling principles

    Experience Requirements

    Construction Industry Background

    Previous work experience in the construction industry

    Specific knowledge of road construction processes and procedures

    Demonstrated ability to read and understand transportation project plans, specifications, and estimates.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with traffic control systems or highway infrastructure projects

    Familiarity with DOT standards and requirements

    Background in electrical or civil construction

    This is an office-based position located in Branchburg, NJ, with no travel requirements. Our schedule offers an excellent work-life balance with a compressed work week featuring early Friday dismissal.
