COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits are competitive and include health, dental, vision, life/AD&D, STD/LTD coverage, paid time off policy and paid holidays, 401k with 6% matching, active transportation commuting, and wellness benefits.

JOB DESCRIPTION :
Trailblazers is seeking a creative professional with the desire and experience to solve problems using GIS. The candidate will work in a collaborative team environment supporting the planning and development of soft-surface (MTB) trails, shared-use paved trails, and on-street bicycle infrastructure projects. They will also be responsible for the GIS maintenance of soft-surface trails systems and other outdoor recreation projects. The position entails collecting GPS data, managing a GIS system for project visualization, management, and analysis, and maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
The responsibilities for this position include:
• Collecting GPS data of newly constructed trails in Northwest Arkansas, processing the data, and uploading to several online platforms, including OpenStreetMap
• Managing GPS data collection tasks, in partnership with a seasonal part-time intern
• Maintaining the regional GIS trails database, ensuring quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of trail layers, and analyzing increases in annual trail mileage
• Maintaining Survey123 surveys used to log work activities by the trail crew and Trail Adoption Program (TAP) volunteers
• Performing analysis on regional trails, trail work activities, and other data to report impact to funders
• Developing interactive maps using ArcGIS Online, Dashboards, and Experience Builder to assist the team in project and program management
• Preparing and drafting thematic maps for online and printed distribution
• Assisting in training other team members to expand GIS functionality and understand its benefits
• Supporting the creation of presentations proposing new projects to external organizations, such as municipalities, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations
• Keeping up-to-date with advances in ArcGIS Online products
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:
KNOWLEDGE
• Proficient in the use of various projected coordinate systems
• Strong ability to design and draft high-quality printed and digital maps
• Thorough understanding of GPS technology and best practices for field data collection
• Experience in managing multiple projects using GIS programs such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, including proficiency in Map Viewer, Survey123, FieldMaps, StoryMaps, Dashboards, and Experience Builder
• Knowledge or demonstrated interest in scripting languages, including SQL, Python, and Arcade
SKILLS
• Proficient in using field equipment for accurate GPS data collection
• Demonstrated ability to approach problem-solving creatively within a GIS context
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting
• Attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to meeting project milestones
ABILITIES
• Quick learner with the ability to grasp new workflows, software, and equipment related to GIS
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Physically able to walk up to five miles on uneven terrain, as required for fieldwork
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working with GIS, including hands-on experience with GIS software, data management, analysis, and cartography
