Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of prior/relevant experience in transcribing and/or captioning
- Native or near-native English proficiency (written and verbal) is required, with working knowledge of Spanish sufficient for translation support.
- Exhibits strong command of English standards following The Chicago Manual of Style.
- Exhibits knowledge of subtitle standards and closed captioning regulations by the FCC.
- Prior experience using technology, such as speech-to-text converters, to speed up translations and transcriptions
- Prior experience using AI programs such as AWS to accelerate translation and transcription processes
- Prior experience with cloud-based collaboration platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365)
- Proven ability to work with multiple monitors and multitask between translation and transcription tools
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous experience in dubbing, voice-over, or audio post-production is a plus
- Prior experience with software like Stanza or others to add timestamps preferred
- Exceptional communication, time management, analytical and organizational skills
- Self-starter who exhibits ownership on assigned tasks and who will push for solutions that solve immediate problems while building towards long-term goals
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment
- Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization
- Ability to build rapport with clients and manage expectations
- Ability to effectively be flexible in approach, and respond well to pressure
- Ability to lead and direct others, promote a positive work environment and problem solves
- Process oriented, good at identifying and implementing best practices
- Change agent and continuous learner; creative and adaptable when facing challenges
- Demonstration of best-in-class customer service skills and strategic thinking
