Seeking a Revenue Cycle PFS Representative to join our team!
This position reports to the Revenue Cycle Manager and is responsible timely and accurate account payment for outstanding balances while demonstrating excellent customer service to patients and key stakeholders. The Revenue Cycle Patient Financial Service Representative (PFS) will assist with TOS collections on upcoming appointments and have responsibility for collecting payments post service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educate patients on statement balances
- Explains insurance terms and regulations to assist patients in understanding their balances
- Obtains missing claim information to ensure prompt payment
- Research patient balance due accounts thoroughly and perform outbound calls
- Obtain and process patient payments through the use of various electronic tools
- Resolve delinquent accounts in a timely manner by proactively working outstanding patient balances.
- Contacts patients for payment arrangements
- Negotiate payment plans per policy
- Monitor adherence to payment plans
- Processes adjustments when appropriate and in accordance with policies
- Works to resolve complaints in a courteous, professional and confidential manner
- Recommends accounts for bad debt, collection agency placement or charity write off per department policies
- Manages relationship with third party collection agency
- Collaborate with RCM teammates to research, appeal and resolve claim rejections or denials and appeal as necessary
- Maintain knowledge of mental health billing, self pay collection policies and procedures
- Consistently meet or exceed the department productivity and quality standards and performance requirements
- Ensures patient statements are processed on a weekly basis
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with cross-functional teams, teammates and Payor representatives and other key stakeholders
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed; facilitate team meetings and phone conferences as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 years of physician billing and collection experience
- High school diploma
- Self-starter; able to move own workflow along with minimal oversight
- Accurate; detail oriented and able to meet tight turnaround times
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment and decision-making skills and take required actions
- Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS word, excel outlook and database management and internet usage
- Ability to resolve billing and payment issues by analyzing patient accounts
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of physician billing and accounts receivable in healthcare
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative or other billing certification
