    Job Goal: The BI Coordinator position is designed to enhance the quality of our services and best practices within the Behavior Interventionist employee group. The BI Coordinator will promulgate initiatives intended to improve the outcomes of our students, including new and more effective de-escalation techniques, Safety Crisis training, restraint protocol, and Restorative Practices. The BI Coordinator will help troubleshoot challenges related to conventional Behavior Intervention duties and responsibilities as they arise; this will include consultation with members of the Behavior Interventionist teams across all TLI schools and programs. The BI Coordinator will also help design appropriate trainings and professional development for the BI teams, including taking the lead on the monthly departmental learning series for BIs.

    This position is adjunctive and part time.

    Requirements:

    Strong Organizational/Leadership/Time Management Skills.

    Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development of discipline department.

    Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk youth.

    Demonstrated commitment to restorative practices, trauma-informed care, equity/cultural responsiveness.

    An ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data for evaluation purposes.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Become trained and certified as a trainer in student de-escalation and restraint safety. NOTE: candidates do not already need to be trained as restraint/de-escalation trainers. They will be required to undergo this training as part of their responsibilities once hired.

    Design and lead regular trainings for BIs, including the monthly professional learning series.

    Provide student de-escalation and restraint training to all staff.

    Oversee the reduction in the utilization of physical restraints across our various operations.

    Visit TLI’s various schools/programs to assess the fidelity to various BI protocols.

    Ensure BIs work collaboratively with clinicians at their respective sites to secure the generalization of treatment gains.

    Ensure the fidelity to best practices that maximize student safety and minimize student injury.

    Assist all programs with the establishment of a thorough record keeping process of student restraints.

    Analyze discipline data to identify trends, concerns, and to help establish goals for performance and improvement.

    Meet regularly (at least once per quarter) with BI teams across the entire organization, both per school and organization-wide.

    Provide Restorative Practices training and support.

    Troubleshoot operational challenges across our schools and offer guidance and support.

    Assist in the process of hiring BIs.

    Meet regularly with the Principals Team and the Directors Team.

    Participate in on-going training and professional development for growth.

    Meet monthly with TLI's leadership team.

    Assist with mid and year end evaluations.
