Job Description

The Transportation Assistant will support the Transportation Department’s daily operations with a primary focus on McKinney-Vento student transportation, fleet readiness, and supporting department logistics. This role ensures our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for students while maintaining organized vehicle and department readiness.

Here's What You'll Do:

Transportation Support:

• Establish rapport with faculty and students to maintain and enhance a positive school environment
• Drive McKinney-Vento van routes for home-to-school and school-to-home transportation.
• Support with RAV4 check-outs for staff, ensuring readiness and accurate documentation.
• Assist with vehicle cleanliness, ensuring vans and RAV4 vehicles are clean, fueled, and ready for scheduled trips.

Fleet and Supply Readiness:

• Monitor and maintain inventory within the C-train for cleaning supplies and operational gear, ensuring availability for drivers and staff.
• Assist with washing buses as needed to maintain fleet appearance and readiness.

Office and Documentation:

• Support filing and organizing transportation documentation to ensure audit readiness.
• Assist drivers with documentation needs and maintain up-to-date, organized records for compliance.

Departmental Support:

• Assist with other duties around the yard to support the transportation team as needed.
• Foster a positive and safe work environment within the department, demonstrating reliability and teamwork.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• CPR/First Aid Certification – Active
• Medical Certification – Active
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Skills, Knowledge :

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families in a professional and courteous manner.
• Attention to detail to maintain accurate records and support department organization.
• Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Comfortable operating and maintaining cleanliness in school transportation vehicles.
• A passion for advancing the education of students in the Central Valley of California.

** Working Conditions:**

• Driving and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Lifting and moving supplies up to 25 lbs.
• Periods of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day.

** Pay: $20.00/Hour.**
