Job Description Drive Engineering Corp. is currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors at the TA-1 and TA-2 level. The Transportation Construction Inspector is responsible for the inspection of projects for compliance with contracts, standards and specifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities · Inspection of traffic-related items (OH Signs, Message Boards, Guiderail, etc.) both new installations and repair of damages · Inspect grading, surfacing and drainage structures for satisfactory work and adherence to plans specifications · Calculate quantities of materials used and work performed · Operate instruments, document project activities and make some computations · Conduct basic tests on soils, asphalt, cements/concrete, aggregates, bituminous products, and/or industrial coatings · Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic geometry and ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to follow technical instructions
Excellent communication skills
Education and Requirements[AS1] · High School Graduate or equivalent · One (1) year of experience in general construction or ITS construction inspection · Candidates with previous experience working on PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike preferred · Valid driver’s license · NICET (any level), NECEPT or ACI Certification (preferred but not required)
Work Environment · In field, on construction sites · Driving, walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and kneeling · This position may risk exposure to bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors and traffic · This position may include occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Salary Range TA-1 $16.40--$21.22 TA-2 $21.22--$24.97
Job Type This is a Full time (40 hours/week), Non-Exempt position. The typical workdays are Monday through Friday. Some nights and/or weekend work maybe required.
Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel.
