    Position Summary LYNC Transportation Services is seeking an experienced and dependable Transportation Manager to oversee and manage daily school transportation and Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) operations. The role is responsible for managing transportation employees, coordinating routes and schedules, overseeing daily operations, supporting fleet maintenance and safety compliance, and ensuring transportation services are provided in a safe, reliable, efficient, and professional manner.

    Schedule Monday–Friday. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    Driver Supervision and Training

    Oversee drivers, transportation attendants, dispatchers, coordinators, and other assigned operations staff, providing leadership, guidance, and support.

    Lead monthly meetings and employee training covering safety requirements, customer service standards, operational procedures, technology, and service updates.

    Monitor employee performance, conduct performance evaluations, recognize strong performance, and provide coaching or corrective action when expectations are not met.

    Plan, organize, and assign schedules for the transportation team.

    Lead daily dispatch operations, monitor active routes and schedules, confirm staffing and vehicle coverage, and resolve same-day service disruptions.

    Conduct driver ride-along evaluations, on-site observations, and inspections of drivers and vehicles to ensure compliance with Company procedures.

    Investigate complaints and follow up with schools, parents, and NEMT Provider Services to discuss issues and provide solutions.

    Provide emergency route coverage as needed.

    Route Planning and Optimization

    Process new route and trip requests.

    Create and maintain efficient transportation routes and trips using routing platforms.

    Continuously optimize routes to minimize travel time, prevent overloading, reduce fuel consumption, and improve on-time performance.

    Adjust routes as needed to accommodate changes in student populations, passenger needs, or traffic patterns.

    Serve as a school and NEMT liaison to help ensure that services are rendered satisfactorily.

    Fleet Maintenance and Safety Compliance

    Implement and oversee a maintenance schedule for fleet vehicles to help ensure they are safe and in optimal working condition.

    Coordinate and schedule fleet cleaning.

    Ensure that all vehicles adhere to applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.

    Conduct regular safety inspections of vehicles and promptly address maintenance and repair needs.

    Coordinate the purchase of parts and supplies needed for vehicles and ensure that all parts and supplies are appropriately inventoried and managed.

    Assist with transportation budgeting, monitor operating expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or service quality.

    Emergency Response Planning

    Develop comprehensive emergency response plans for various scenarios, including accidents, inclement weather, and other emergencies.

    Coordinate operational responses and stakeholder communications during weather delays, emergency closures, accidents, vehicle breakdowns, and other service disruptions.

    Conduct regular drills and training sessions to prepare drivers and staff for emergency situations.

    Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as needed.

    Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

    Maintain open and effective communication channels with parents, school administrators, and transportation team members.

    Address parent inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

    Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth operations and resolve transportation-related issues.

    Systems and Data Analysis

    Manage internal databases and update route, school, student enrollment, demographic, and other transportation-related information.

    Analyze transportation-related data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve performance.

    Use data-driven insights to enhance route efficiency, on-time performance, and overall service quality.

    Implement, oversee, and promote effective use of Samsara and other Company routing, dispatch, scheduling, GPS, and real-time monitoring technology.

    Review and maintain ridership records, attendance and behavior logs, key access information, complaint and site issues, and accident reports for each route.

    Review Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) and follow up on reported vehicle repairs, supplies, and maintenance issues.

    Safety Culture Promotion

    Foster and promote a strong safety culture within the transportation team.

    Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to reinforce safety protocols.

    Encourage drivers and staff to prioritize safety at all times.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Valid driver's license with a driving history that meets Company and insurance requirements.

    Strong leadership skills to effectively lead and motivate a team of drivers and support staff.

    Ability to foster a positive and collaborative team culture, emphasizing safety and professionalism.

    Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards relevant to school transportation.

    Ability to ensure compliance with traffic laws, vehicle maintenance requirements, and safety protocols.

    Experience developing and optimizing transportation routes and schedules to maximize efficiency while prioritizing passenger safety and on-time arrivals.

    Understanding of vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to help ensure vehicles remain in safe operational condition.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills for maintaining effective communication with parents, school administrators, and transportation team members.

    Ability to address inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

    Proficiency in managing data systems and routing platforms.

    Strong data analysis skills, with a focus on transportation-related data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve transportation performance.

    Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm, make timely decisions, and adapt quickly under pressure.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Previous experience in school transportation, passenger transportation, NEMT, dispatch, routing, scheduling, fleet coordination, or transportation administration.

    Experience in a fast-paced transportation operations environment using computerized routing, dispatch, scheduling, or workforce-management systems.
