Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and safety-focused manager to oversee the daily dispatch operations of our lumber and building materials distribution business while managing the company's safety program. This position is responsible for coordinating deliveries, supervising drivers, ensuring DOT compliance, promoting workplace safety, and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities
Dispatch Operations
Schedule and coordinate daily deliveries of lumber and building materials.
Assign routes and workloads to drivers to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules and changes.
Maintain accurate dispatch records and transportation documentation.
Coordinate with warehouse, sales, and purchasing departments to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Safety Management
Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance and company safety regulations.
Conduct driver safety meetings, training, and orientation programs.
Monitor driver qualification files, CDL requirements, medical certifications, and hours-of-service compliance.
Perform regular facility and fleet safety inspections.
Leadership & Administration
Supervise and support drivers and dispatch personnel.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Monitor fleet maintenance schedules in coordination with maintenance personnel.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, or fleet management.
Previous experience in the lumber, building materials, construction supply, or related industry preferred.
Knowledge of transportation regulations.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license; Class A CDL/previous CDL is a plus.
