    Job Description

    AECOM Technical Services, Inc.is seeking a Transportation Planner in Austin, TX.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external clients to deliver CAV and smart mobility projects on schedule and within scope
    • Utilize GIS and data analysis tools to analyze spatial data related to land use, transportation networks, and demographic trends to inform planning decisions and produce compelling visualizations
    • Research emerging transportation technologies, assist with infrastructure readiness assessments, and develop forward-thinking mobility strategies
    • Support project managers with coordination tasks, monitor project progress, manage communications, and help deliver high-quality planning documents and presentations
    • Engage with neighborhood groups, public agencies, elected officials, and developers to guide community development and transportation initiatives
    • Prepare technical reports, memos, and presentation materials including PowerPoints to communicate project status, planning outcomes, and alternative development to stakeholders
    • Support updates to long-range transportation and comprehensive plans to ensure alignment with smart mobility, sustainability, and economic development goals
    • Identify key planning challenges and develop strategies to enhance multimodal connectivity, safety, and accessibility in urban and suburban environments
    • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items to support project continuity
    • Collect and interpret statistical data, including safety, economic, and ITS devices
    • Create maps, visualizations, and technical documentation
    • Evaluate infrastructure readiness and propose innovative solutions for connected vehicle environments
    • Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study and 2 years of experience as a Planner, Urban Planner, or related occupation.

    Position requires experience in the following:

    1. Creating professional documents, data summaries, and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    2. Data visualization and spatial analysis tools including ArcGIS, Power BI, and Tableau
    3. Conducting transportation planning studies, corridor analyses, and mobility assessments
    4. Data analysis and forecasting
    5. Certification or eligibility for certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)
