    Job Description

    AECOM Technical Services, Inc., is seeking a Transportation Planner I in Arlington, VA.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Adjust and apply travel demand models to forecast future-year travel demand, particularly with a focus on forecasting intercity passenger rail ridership.
    • Intercity travel demand model design, development, calibration, and application, including maintaining, updating, and applying the AECOM national intercity model.
    • Travel survey design, sampling plan development, processing, and analysis –including household travel surveys, transit on-board surveys, focus groups, stated preference surveys, and other specialized survey types.
    • Collect and process data for the models and set up, run, and troubleshoot models.
    • Perform project evaluation for Alternatives Analysis/DEIS and major investment studies.
    • Summarize and document forecasted results.
    • Process and analyze various data, including inputs to travel demand models and information about travel markets.
    • Support project management and task leaders in executing task orders, completing technical work, and meeting project milestones for ongoing assignments.
    • May telecommute.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Candidates must have a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or related field.

    Position requires:

    1. Travel demand modeling concepts;
    2. Analyzing travel survey data;
    3. Analyzing demographic data, such as population data from the Census Bureau;
    4. Creating maps and doing geospatial analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) software such as ArcGIS/ArcMap or QGIS;
    5. Python; and
    6. Data analysis using a programming language (Python or R) and interactive visualization tools (Power BI or Tableau).
