Job Description
The Transportation Safety Coordinator will be responsible for fostering an environment that emphasizes a strong safety culture in our Material Recovery Division. They will do this through auditing the drivers and employees for safety opportunities, training local employees on safety policies and programs, organizing and leading safety committee meetings, and ensuring we are compliant with all TOMRA, state, and federal governmental safety regulations. This position must have keen interpersonal skills with the ability to speak with individuals at all levels within the organization in a professional but polite manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitoring and enforcing PPE requirements
- Building and maintaining a positive and consistent Safety Culture specifically within the Transportation team
- Communicating safety hazards and opportunities to managers and supervisors
- Audits of safety items both in the facility and within the Fleet
- Audits to ensure compliance with required safety policies and programs, digital record keeping of such trainings
- Become familiar with and hold other individuals accountable for the policies in the Company’s Fleet Safety Handbook.
- Manage monthly/yearly- KPA/ SAMBA Safety regulated training compliance
- Assist, manage and lead all Incident/ Accident root cause analysis review process for all assigned transportation employees.
- Observe daily operations, report unsafe conditions/ acts and ensure steps are taken to correct.
- Partner with transportation, EHS, P&O, and operational leadership to assist in the development of safety policies and programs
- Own TOMRA’s safety committee program for the Bronx by developing and coaching the employees who take part in the committee and the other employees
- Lead monthly local safety committee and quarterly regional safety committee meetings
