Position Summary
The Traveling Nurse Practitioner (NP), also referred to as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), provides specialized hepatology care across multiple clinical locations, including Benson, Wilcox, Safford, and Globe Arizona. This role requires regular travel between assigned sites to deliver consistent, high-quality specialty care for patients with acute and chronic liver disease. The NP will work collaboratively with hepatologists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and compliance with all clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Specialty Clinical Care – Hepatology
Provide comprehensive hepatology care to patients across multiple clinic locations, including Wilcox, Safford, and Phoenix.
Conduct detailed patient assessments focused on liver-related conditions such as chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and liver-related complications.
Order, review, and interpret hepatology-related diagnostic studies, including laboratory testing and imaging.
Diagnose and manage liver disease and develop individualized treatment and monitoring plans.
Preform procedures of Liver Biopsy, Colonoscopy, Paracentsis, and EGD
Prescribe medications and manage therapies related to hepatology care within the scope of practice.
Monitor disease progression, treatment response, and patient adherence to care plans.
Provide patient education regarding liver health, disease management, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care.
Documentation and Regulatory Compliance
Complete and submit all patient care documentation within forty-eight (48) hours following each patient encounter, regardless of location.
Ensure documentation supports accurate billing, reimbursement, and compliance with payer and regulatory requirements for specialty care.
Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
Adhere to all organizational policies, clinical protocols, quality assurance standards, and third-party payer requirements.
Collaboration and Care Coordination
Collaborate with hepatologists, gastroenterologists, primary care providers, nursing staff, and specialty teams across all assigned locations.
Participate in interdisciplinary care coordination and case discussions for complex hepatology patients.
Support continuity of care between locations, including follow-ups, referrals, and transitions of care.
Leadership and Professional Practice
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and clinical staff as appropriate at each site.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving hepatology outcomes across multiple locations.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, adaptability, and accountability in a travel-based role.
Operational Expectations
Work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Maintain an average patient volume of twenty (20) patients per clinic day.
Travel regularly between Wilcox, Safford, Benson, and Globe as scheduled by the employer.
Follow established scheduling structures, clinical workflows, and operational protocols at all assigned locations.
Complete all duties within the scope of licensure at all times.
