About The Player Progression Academy (PPA):
The Player Progression Academy (PPA) is a premier youth sports academy located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. PPA offers comprehensive athletic programs for players aged 2 - 18 in basketball, soccer, and futsal. With an expansive community of over 3000 players, a dedicated team of over 100 coaches, and an office staff of 20 individuals, PPA is committed to fostering player development both inside and outside of the lines.
Position Summary:
The Premier Soccer Technical Director is a full-time leadership position responsible for the technical development of coaches and players across the Premier Soccer Program. This individual will lead coach education initiatives, observe and evaluate coaches, support team environments, and collaborate with leadership to ensure a consistent and high-quality soccer experience at all levels.
This is a dynamic role that combines strategic planning, coach mentorship, on-field observation, and direct communication with coaches, parents, and players. The Technical Director will also coach teams and support seasonal camps.
Key Responsibilities:
Coach Development & Education
Plan and deliver 4–6 Coach Development Courses annually (virtual & in-person), tailored to various age groups and team levels (top-tier and second-tier).
Collaborate with mentor coaches to lead the Mentorship Program, holding monthly meetings and offering continuous support to improve coaching leadership and effectiveness.
Conduct regular on-field practice and game observations to assess coaching performance and player development.
Deliver formal mid-year and end-of-year coach evaluations, incorporating feedback from players, parents, and observations.
Coach & Parent Support
Serve as a go-to resource for coaches facing challenges, offering personalized support, solutions, and guidance. Host two annual town hall meetings with parents to share the club’s coaching philosophy, developmental goals, and address questions or concerns.
Act as a point of contact for parents and team managers who raise concerns about coaching, and work collaboratively to resolve issues professionally.
Ensure alignment with club values and a positive experience for players and families.
Collaboration with Program Director
Work alongside the Program Director on coach performance reviews, recommendations for promotions, reassignments, or terminations.
Assist in evaluating team structures and finalizing team placements each year.
Coaching Responsibilities
Serve as a head coach for two teams within the Premier Soccer Program.
Participate in and support 4–6 weeks of PPA summer camps, contributing to player development during off-season periods.
Requirements:
5+ years of coaching experience at the competitive or premier youth soccer level
National or international coaching licenses required (e.g., USSF C/B/A, UEFA, or equivalent)
Proven leadership in coach development and program management
Strong understanding of player development across age groups
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Experience working directly with parents, coaches, and program leadership
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain professionalism under pressure
Work Schedule:
Full-time role including evenings and weekends during the season
Hybrid schedule: mix of on-field responsibilities, meetings, and remote administrative work
