    Traveling HVAC Controls Technician

    Our client is a specialty construction and controlled environment company serving pharma, semiconductor, aerospace, defense, and medical sectors nationally. They are seeking a Traveling Mecha-Tech to join their team.

    Position Summary

    The Traveling Mecha-Tech is a hybrid field role combining commercial HVAC service skills with low voltage building automation systems (BAS) controls expertise. This individual handles installation, startup, emergency repair, and preventative maintenance of critical environmental systems across specialty divisions including cleanrooms, dry rooms, radiation shielding vaults, and specialized doors. Frequent travel including overnight and extended stays is required.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Base salary $85,000

    Key Responsibilities

    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC equipment and mechanical systems at client facilities
    • Perform preventative maintenance including compressor checks, belt replacements, coil cleanings, and fan/motor inspections
    • Evaluate airflow, pressure differentials, and thermal performance to meet compliance standards for specialized environments
    • Mount and wire control panels, controllers, and enclosures per design drawings
    • Install and terminate low voltage and line voltage wiring, network cabling for BAS communication (BACnet/Modbus), actuators, and sensors
    • Maintain accurate redline records of electrical diagrams and control schematics
    • Perform point to point wiring checks, sensor calibration, and functional testing during commissioning
    • Collaborate with engineering staff to resolve system faults and support client handover and training

    Required Qualifications

    • EPA 608 Universal Certification
    • Strong practical knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical/control wiring principles
    • Ability to read and troubleshoot advanced electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
    • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and full flexibility to travel extensively including overnight and extended stays
    • High school diploma or equivalent

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in cleanrooms, dry rooms, pharmaceutical labs, or other critical environments
    • Familiarity with BAS communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus) and control system configuration software
    • Associate's degree or vocational certification in HVAC/R, Electrical Technology, or Instrumentation

    Physical Requirements

    Standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, with or without accommodation.
