    The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) is seeking an analyst to join its Investment Equity Department.     GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the portfolio manager/director of research, Equities, conduct research and make investment recommendations based on fundamental security analysis.

     

     

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1.  Analyze fundamental industry and company data; including but not limited to, examination of business, financial, and valuation factors on assigned industry groups.

    2.  Maintain contact with brokerage-house analysts who specialize in industry segments corresponding to those of the analyst.

    3.  Advise State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) portfolio managers regarding the investment merit of individual securities and industries.

    4.  Some travel may be required for company visits, company and brokerage-house sponsored field trips and financial analyst society meetings.

    5.  Grade 314 - At the request of the assistant director, Investments, act as mentor for less experienced analysts.

    6.  Prepare special projects as directed.

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    1.  Bachelor's degree required.

    2.  Master's degree in business administration or accounting preferred.

    3.  Grade 311 - Three to five years’ experience in an analytical securities research position required.

         Grade 312 - Five to seven years’ experience in an analytical securities research position required.

         Grade 314 - Seven or more years’ experience in an analytical securities research position required.

    4.  Grade 311 - Successful completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 examination strongly recommended.

         Grade 312/314 - Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) strongly recommended.

    5.  Knowledge of relevant analytical software preferred.

    6.  Ability to research and analyze data and make valid conclusions required.

    7.  Grade 311 - Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

         Grade 312/314 - Superior oral and written communication skills required.

    8.  Grade 314 - Proven ability and willingness to exhibit leadership in enhancing the overall body of knowledge of STRS Ohio required.

    9.  Ability to work with and preserve confidential information required.

    10. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts required

    1. Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required

    2. Proven ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and standard office equipment required.

    3. Ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines with minimal direct supervision required.

    4. Excellent work record of attendance, punctuality and the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet business needs. Occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours may be required.
