Are you a book lover? Treasure Chest Books is a regional wholesale book distributor located in Tucson, Arizona. Our job is to get books into a variety of stores and ultimately into readers’ hands. We have an opening for an Accounting Clerk. The position is responsible for handling A/P and A/R, reconciliations and General Ledger transactions. Duties also include supporting sales staff, answering phones as needed, entering sales orders, and some customer service.
The successful candidate will be efficient and conscientious, have excellent written and verbal skills, and display outstanding attention to detail. Applicant must be able to work quickly and independently but must also be a team player. This full-time, hourly position is available immediately. Duties include but are not limited to…
Accounts Payable
Serve as the main point of contact for vendors, answer vendor inquiries as needed.
Check and approve all vouchers for payment.
Prepare weekly check runs
Compile accounts payable reports.
Maintain all accounts payable files.
Assist in monthly closings by completing bank reconciliations and company credit card reconciliations.
Report Sales and Use Tax for 4 states.
Compile and submit 1099s for vendors.
Accounts Receivable
Prepare daily cash deposits.
Enter finalized cash receipts and update accounts receivable ledger.
Obtain and mail invoice copies for customers, as requested.
Perform billing and collection process to retrieve outstanding funds.
Prepare monthly customer statements.
Process daily credit card deposits.
File check stubs and bank receipts.
Research and process charge backs, returns, and bad checks.
Answer accounts receivable phone inquiries.
Call and/or mail correspondence to customers as necessary in order to update accounts.
Research payment discrepancies as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
Process credit card transactions.
Interact with bank agents.
Assist with other projects as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
Proven bookkeeping experience or an associates degree or certificate in accounting.
Experience with QuickBooks Desktop required.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel required.
Keen attention to detail and ability to keep records and files organized.
Friendly, team player with positive attitude and good customer service skills.
Critical thinker who can identify errors and solve problems with a minimum of supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management, and math and reasoning skills.
Must be competent, dependable, decisive, trustworthy, and able to handle confidential company data.
Must be punctual and reliable.
Strong typing and 10-key skills required.
Experience in Sage100 preferred.
