Tree Service Field Assistant - Entry Level
Position Summary
The Tree Service Field Assistant delivers critical ground support for arboriculture operations, functioning as an essential team member assisting climbers and equipment specialists. This entry-level role provides direct experience in professional tree care while training under experienced arborists with outstanding progression opportunities to Equipment Operator, Climber, or Crew Leader roles.
Key Responsibilities
Field Support
Gather, haul, and organize branches and debris during work activities
Handle ground-level equipment including chainsaws, pole saws, and manual tools
Support climbers and equipment specialists with rigging and material management
Load/unload equipment and materials at project locations
Safety & Coordination
Sustain continuous voice contact with climbers and aerial personnel
Observe work zones for dangers and ensure employee/public protection
Utilize appropriate PPE and adhere to safety procedures
Communicate safety concerns and equipment malfunctions promptly
Site Management
Execute comprehensive site cleanup and debris removal
Organize and maintain tools and equipment during work activities
Follow verbal and written directions from team leader
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong work standards and positive mindset
Physical conditioning for challenging outdoor labor in all weather
Current driver's license with clean driving history
Capability to follow directions and function effectively in team settings
Key Abilities
Strong physical strength, vision, and hearing for safe operations
Outstanding communication abilities for team coordination
Capability to handle 30-50+ pounds consistently and work extended shifts
Superior attention to detail and dedication to safety
Eagerness to learn and accept guidance from experienced team members
Physical Requirements
Capability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and bend for extended periods
Strength to haul heavy brush and handle equipment
Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
Endurance for physically challenging workdays

Compensation
Pay: $160-$185/day based on qualifications Schedule: Monday-Friday, with periodic weekend emergency assignments Benefits: 401(k) matching, health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, PTO
