Treva is currently seeking full-time SURGICAL TECHNICIANS (ST) for a hospital in SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA. The shift is VARIED. This is a 13 WEEK contract with an opportunity of extension. Must have strong orthopedic experience. Position will consist of 60% hip and joint surgeries, 15% c-sections surgeries, and 25% general surgeries. Travelers must be able to work on all shifts based on patient surgery time. High School Diploma and BLS Required. Great pay!

As a Surgical Technologists, you will observe patients vital signs, check charts, and help the surgical team put on sterile gowns and gloves. During a surgical procedure the Technologist may pass instruments and other sterile supplies to Surgeon Assistant(s) or Surgeon(s). You may also hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Other duties may include preparing, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help applying dressings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the sterile field between the patient and the surgical team.
• Count the sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure there are still the same number as before the surgery.
• Assemble both sterile and nonsterile equipment and assure that the equipment is in proper working condition.
• Prep patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
• Transport patients to the operating room.
• Help position patients on the operating table, and covering them with sterile surgical drapes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prefer certified Surgical Techs
• _AT LEAST_2 YEARS of Surgical Tech (ST) experience
• Current BLS
• Current immunizations and/or screenings (MMR, DPT, Varicella, HEP B and TB) required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Familiarity with medical software and equipment

• Ability to build rapport with patients and team

• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
