    TRI POINTE HOMES IS LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED, ENTHUSIASTIC INDIVIDUAL TO JOIN OUR TALENTED GROUP AS AN INTERNAL AUDIT STAFF ASSOCIATE IN OUR HOME OFFICE!

     

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: The Internal Audit Staff Associate position will participate in organizational audit projects, which may include financial, operational, compliance, or information technology audit programs. Audits the organization's internal operations as directed by leadership. Documents and evaluates internal controls, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (including Sarbanes-Oxley) and identifies business risks. Reviews financial transactions or reports for accuracy. Recommends new or modified procedures that improve efficiency or compliance and mitigate risk or loss. Drafts audit reports and maintains records of audit findings. Cooperates with independent auditors and provides data in support of external audits as needed.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for documentation of internal control processes, internal controls assessments, testing of internal controls, and reporting on project results.
    • SOX 404 compliance: Assist with process documentation walkthroughs and flowcharting. Primarily will be performing tests of design, tests of operating effectiveness, identifying control gaps and control deficiencies. Coordinate with the external auditors and business process owners on audit-related matters. 
    • Internal audits: Assist the team with planning, the performance of fieldwork, and reporting results.
    • Risk assessments: Assist in internal audit and SOX 404 risk assessments.
    • Work closely with internal clients to obtain audit documentation and communicate issues or results of our audit findings.
    • Documents tests and analyzes business processes.
    • Prepares effective written reports and supports findings with proper documentation.
    • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group or individuals.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; Master’s degree highly desirable
    • Minimum 2-4+ years of relevant experience in SOX 404 compliance and internal audit required; previous experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm highly desirable
    • Relevant experience includes analyzing business risks, evaluating business processes, assessing internal controls, documenting work performed, and writing concise and persuasive reports
    • Willingness and ability to travel to other locations domestically required
    • CPA, CIA, or CISA highly desirable
    • Knowledge/familiarity with JD Edwards and AuditBoard is preferred, but not required
    • Homebuilding or real estate industry experience preferred, but not required
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present to peers and management.
