  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY  Responsible for the evaluation, procurement, installation, and manufacturing support of automated manufacturing equipment.  Prepares maintenance procedures and policies, establishes support infrastructure, identifies and tracks equipment deficiencies and designs/ implements improvements.  Interfaces with process engineering and maintenance to develop and support new processes and applications.  Estimates manufacturing cost and time standards and makes recommendations for improvements.  Supports evaluation of new technologies and equipment for improvement of current techniques or implementation of new process techniques.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Maintain equipment  including Source, Beamline, and wafer handling areas with an understanding of product hazards and safe working practices. Setup, adjustment and calibration of system wafer handling and robotics.

    Operate equipment,  interface with marketing, sales, and customers to define demo conditions and in-house product characterization.

    Interpret / maintain databases such as RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) Log and/or Insight, SPC monitors, and 5 S protocols (sort, store, sweep, standardize, and sustain) with limited supervision.

    Troubleshooting of systems, including electrical and mechanical disciplines, recruiting expert resources as needed.

    Analyze equipment performance. Correlate and interpret observations and test results, and make recommendations for improvements.

    Authorize, develop, and implement test plans and value added solutions.  Function as equipment contact engineer with knowledge of tool configuration status.   

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    Continue developing an intermediate understanding of the scientific theory of the product.

    Attend product training classes and seminars.

    Develop understanding of semiconductor process results and interactions applicable to assigned product.

    Provide technical assistance to various functions, including, but not limited to, manufacturing, operations, product engineering, product support, and marketing.

    Attend training and complete all assigned on-line training.

    Required Skills

    Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English sufficiently well to perform job functions.

    Skilled at practical application of electronic circuit analysis and design principles; verbal and written communications;     problem solving; analysis; personal computer proficiency.

    Knowledge of high voltage / reliability, test, and familiarity with semiconductor industry.

    Ability to work with limited supervision and with cross-functional teams.  Perform/ develop complex electrical and electromechanical tests working from schematics, drawings, test procedures, and machine specifications. Develop documentation for test procedures.  Interact effectively with customers and personnel at many different levels and of various technical disciplines.

    Travel:  Up to 20%.

    Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Degree preferred:  BSEE, BSEET.  Other engineering disciplines will be considered.
