  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    Monitor the handling and ripening banana processes, conducting quality inspections, reviewing ripening cycles, actual ripening and post ripening handling, in order to comply with customers’ expectations.

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Conduct required quality inspections related to the ripening process such as ventilation, humidity, temperature, etc. and communicate reports daily, to ensure the compliance with customer ripening requirements and expectations.

    • Coordinate labor regarding conditioning inbound fruit and loading ripening rooms, according to the established procedures, in order to maintain an adequate inventory and comply with the ripening schedules.

    • Perform daily inspections for ripened fruit with customer QA personnel, in order to meet customer specifications.

    • Coordinate labor for staging of fruit to be outturned, ensure that fruit is outturned timely for order assembly.

    • Perform daily inventory management and reconcile as needed with third party, in order to maintain the inventory levels.

    • Maintain a sanitation preventative maintenance program, to ensure ripening rooms are running efficiently and comply with the established quality standards.

    • Other duties as needed.

    Internal: Sales personnel, Quality assurance and port operations to coordinate customer requests and expectations

    External: Dole’s primary customers related to the ripening business and outside vendor warehouse partners

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    • 3 years’ experience performing the above functions including, advanced skills in banana ripening and conditioning, product quality standards and ethylene producing products preferred
    • Degree in Ag Business is preferred

     

    EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

    • No direct reports

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Work in a warehouse setting
    • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
    • Work environment includes heavy equipment, such as fork lifts
    • Ability to lift 45 lbs. overhead
    • Exposure to food grade chemicals
    • Noise level is often loud

     

    WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

    • Perform work outside of normal business hours as needed and required

     

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimal travel required
