  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of all aspects of the firm-wide database infrastructure including but not limited to design, standardization, security, replication and backup/recovery strategy. Acts as technical reference user for other designated applications to ensure that the Firm is fully using tools within its applications portfolio.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides design, planning, configuration, documentation, deployment and support ownership of the firm’s SQL Server infrastructure.
    • Works closely with the application teams working on products such as Elite 3E, LexisNexis InterAction, iManage Work and PeopleSoft to validate database elements of these applications are applied consistently throughout the firm.
    • Acts as a subject matter expert on assigned applications, frequently working with Business Reference User(s) to understand how applications are used at the firm.
    • Performs application deployments, upgrades and patch planning.
    • Assists in maintaining a testing environment for development.
    • Participates in multi-functional team projects to implement new or updated technology.
    • Assists with resolution of escalated incidents and participates in problem management activities.
    • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
    • Contributes to the Firm's ServiceMatters initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.

    Required Skills

    • Demonstrable understanding of database principles and practices in a sophisticated client/server, distributed computing environment.
    • Demonstrable experience supporting and maintaining SQL Server 2012 – 2019.
    • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with system stored procedures, triggers, tables and views.
    • Experience installing and maintaining SQL Server in multiple environments, including VM and SQL Server Clusters. SQL Server AlwaysOn and Azure SQL a plus.
    • Experience supporting and administering SSRS (SQL Reporting Services), SSIS (SQL Integration Services) and Analysis Services environments.
    • Exposure to other development languages/environments including Power shell, Javascript, VBScript, XML, as well as .NET technologies such as ASP.NET, VB.NET and Visual Studio.NET
    • Experience supporting a 24x7 production environment
    • Experience in networking optimally with both users and technical staff in collaborative environments.
    • Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
    • Ability to work successfully and independently in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and time sensitivities.
    • Excellent proven understanding of Microsoft OS-based desktop and server systems. Solid understanding of Microsoft networking concepts and common infrastructure.
    • Troubleshooting experience with PC desktop applications in an enterprise environment.
    • Knowledge of ITIL processes and SQL Server Data Encryption a plus

    EDUCATION:

    • College Degree in related field preferred however meaningful experience can be substituted.
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): SQL Server 2012/2014 or 2016 desired.

    Required Experience

    • 3-4 years’ experience as DBA at an organization of similar size and complexity with similar responsibilities.
    • 5-6 years’ experience with SQL Server 2012, SQL 2014, SQL 2016 and/or SQL 2019. Should include experience upgrading from various SQL Server versions.
