  • Responsibilities

    Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone by providing quality customer service, answering or referring inquiries. Registers patients. Verifies patient demographic and insurance information. Performs clerical duties. Meets the communication needs of the patient / family, office staff and the medical staff. Participates in performance improvement activities.

    Required Skills

    Customer Services:

    • Welcoming patients and visitors.
    • Answering and referring inquiries.

     Telephone: Answers telephone, processes call, takes incoming messages and distributes appropriately. Route calls to appropriate staff. Returns all messages in a timely manner.

    • Maintaining communication between medical staff, administrative staff, and / or patient / families.

    Clerical Services:

    • Patient Registration

    • Appointment Scheduling

    • Facilitates request for medical and administrative needs.

    • Scans and uploads patient paper documents.

    • Sorting and distributing incoming mail in either electronic or paper format

     

    Financial Services:

    • Obtains insurance information on patients and approval for all services.

    • Collects co-pays / deductible and outstanding balances.

    • Balances and keeps track of cash box.

    • Tracks money collected and verifies total against receipt sheet daily.

     

    Environmental Services:

    • Maintains the front office and lobby areas to insure cleanliness and order.

    • Contributes to the overall cleanliness and appearance of your personal work space and department.

    • Monitors office supply levels and requests when needed.

    • Monitors office equipment and make service request as needed.

     

     

     

    Required Experience

    Minimum Education: High School education or G.E.D equivalent

    Work Experience: Previous experience in medical practice is preferred

    Required License/ Certification/Registration: None
