Research Computing Systems Administrator, responsible for the technical implementation and maintenance of Meharry Medical College’s Research and Clinical Research computing data environment and services.
• Design, administer, deploy, and support the infrastructure, middleware, applications and data of Meharry Medical College research and clinical computing infrastructure and data services. • Design and prototype new systems and write technical proposals for implementation. • Develop programs, tools, and system automation for researchers and the Meharry research labs including software development, compilation and installation of modules, and systems management frameworks. • Administer database infrastructure including design table infrastructure, permissions, optimization of queries, and develop Extract-Transform-Load processes for the automatic processing of data into research infrastructure using tools such as SSIS. Experience with SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, and NoSQL a plus. • Utilize creativity and innovation to solve problems raised by usage of innovative research and technology. • Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. • Work closely with Meharry systems and network teams to help align traditional IT projects, designs and strategies to include and accommodate the Research computing needs. • Performs other related duties as assigned
