Job Description

TriBeCa Community School, a preschool in Downtown Manhattan, seeks a classroom teacher for the 2021-2022 school year for our 2 and 3 year old classrooms. The daily schedule for teachers is 8:30am-1:30pm, 5 days/week. Teachers work on a collaborative team of 2 or 3 teachers and prospective candidates can have a range of educational backgrounds. The start date is March 2022.

We are seeking creative, team-oriented teachers who:

• See themselves as learners and researchers alongside children.
• Are careful observers and listeners of children.
• Will create positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities include:

• Implementing an inquiry-based curriculum, guided by theories of constructivism and social constructivism.
• Documenting the process and elevate the visibility of children’s ideas and theories
• Communicating with families daily regarding the classroom work and learning
• Conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year
• Conducting curriculum night / parent workshop events twice per year
• Engaging thoughtfully and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
• Reflecting on own teaching practice; developing and working toward goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (can be in process)
• Skilled in MAC programs, video, photography and editing programs, or willingness to learn.
• Available 8:30am-1:30pm M-F, year-round
• Covid-19 vaccine required

TriBeCa Community School is Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool in Downtown Manhattan. TriBeCa Community School is founded on the theories and principles of constructivism, social-constructivism, and the highly regarded Reggio Emilia Approach to early childhood education. We serve children ages 2-5 in half and extended day programs.
