    Job Description

    OVERVIEW:

    The Design Engineer will work to develop advanced manufacturing technologies including additive manufacturing, machine tool and materials. Design Engineer will be responsible for researching and developing advanced manufacturing technologies. Qualified Design Engineers must also be capable of supporting job costing and estimating as well as interfacing with the customer to meet requirements.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement the use of advance manufacturing technologies including additive manufacturing, 3-D printing, advanced materials and machine tool concepts to implement into core products and support new customer demands.
    • Participate in Industry Conferences and trade shows to assist in the development of advanced manufacturing technologies.
    • Design tooling (molds, patterns, etc.) and products using CAD packages such as Solidworks or Creo. Designs will include components and assemblies and must meet customer requirements.
    • Use engineering tools to improve our tooling designs and development
    • Interface CAD designs with manufacturing software such as Mastercam.
    • Provide cost estimates for machined components including material use and labor requirements.
    • Coordinate the manufacture of designs with manufacturing team.
    • Interface with the customer to ensure customer design requirements are met.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

    • Machining processes including milling and lather operations, both manual and CNC.
    • Blueprint reading including material requirements, GD&T, datum structures and tolerances.
    • Advanced Computer Knowledge
    • Effective communication enabling the engineer to represent the company in customer meetings and during visits to customer facilities, design reviews and product sign-off.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 3 years working in a manufacturing environment working in design and machining operations desired.

    • Minimum 2-year degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent required, 4-year BSME desired or equivalent

    • MACHINES, TOOL & EQUIPMENT: CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Manual Mill/Lathe/Drill, CMM, Solidworks/Creo CAD, Mastercam, 3-D printers
