    SYSTEM AND NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

    LANHAM, MD

    DESCRIPTION

    POSITION PURPOSE

     

    The Systems and Network Administrator provides operational support for core processing (Symitar) and infrastructure support systems. Assists with service strategy, design, transition, operation, and continual service improvement of all network and server infrastructure. Provides management and support of Credit Union infrastructure services including server administration, network administration, security administration, and continuity of operations. Provides subject matter expertise on security compliance including FFIEC, NCUA, and SANS. Provides subject matter expertise for all disaster recovery planning and continuity of operations. Maintains build, configuration, and inventory of end user computing equipment including operating systems and Office 365.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

    1. Assumes responsibility for supporting, demonstrating and promoting the Credit Union service culture.

    Provides exceptional service to all customers by demonstrating, following, and supporting the Inspired Financial Service promises and standards, along with the Credit Union Mission, Vision and Values.

     

    1. Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of Company networks.

    Maintains daily operations of network and system infrastructure.

    Manages backup, recovery, and testing of backup and recovery, and ensures all systems/services have adequate disaster recovery plans.

    Manages performance of vendors providing IT services or Cloud services for the credit union.

    Performs active directory administration and evaluates the capabilities of new and existing applications to integrate with active directory.

    Creates and maintains reports required for NCUA (backup reports, patch reports, log and event management reports, incident reports, outage reports, testing and configuration reports)

    Responsible for all network and system security audits as well as validation of secure configurations

    Administers system and network security including password management and user access controls.

    Provides oversight and assists third party vendors on installation of network equipment

    Manages the following infrastructure and security services: BAE systems security, Log and Event Management, Patch Management, Anti-Virus, intrusion detection/prevention systems, web content filtering, and any other system or service used in the management of the infrastructure.

    Performs troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of network and systems infrastructure to diagnose and resolve system and connectivity problems.

    Creates and manages all end user computing builds and image management, including end user licensing and inventory management, as well as technical support for all end user computing equipment, peripherals, and software.

    Assists with all IT continuity of operations and backup/recovery strategies/plans and ensures all systems identified as a level 0/1 have fully documented plans that are tested on an annual basis. Responsible for scheduling and documenting all testing. In addition to the systems, a review needs to be conducted on resources supporting these systems to ensure the credit union has adequate resources available to ensure continuity of operations.

    Ensures all Firewalls, SPAM, Web Content Filtering and any other IT Security related systems/services are properly managed either through internal resources or vendor resources. (leveraging BAE systems for security monitoring). Manages Data Loss Prevention and/or Data Classification in accordance with governing policies.

    Maintains policies and procedures for infrastructure management including incident management, change and configuration management, security management, patch management, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and related services.

    Manages Office 365 configuration, licensing, and maintenance

    Provides backup support for credit union core banking systems and services (Symitar, Synergy, Audio Teller)

    1. Assumes responsibility for effectively developing, testing, recommending, and implementing new IT systems and processes.

    Tests and evaluates software and hardware for reliability and functionality.

    Leads business relationship management discussions with all business unit leaders.

    Provides oversight and governance of all technologies used within the credit union.

    Procures and implements new software and hardware systems in alignment with Credit Union strategic plans.

    Develops processes to improve network reliability and proposes solutions to meet the future needs of the Credit Union.

    Evaluates and recommends standards for hardware and software operations in all Credit Union systems.

    Recommends and/or implements common processes to align IT using best practices from the ITIL framework.

    Provides suggestions in the development of IT strategies and policies.

    Evaluates new and emerging technologies as well as existing technologies for their strategic fit within the Credit Union and makes recommendations on technologies that continuously improve Credit Union operations, reduce long term structural costs, and provide new or improved service to customers.

    Ensures credit union end user computing systems meet all regulatory requirements and are properly licensed, managed, and inventoried.

    1. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with customers, suppliers, and outside contacts.

    Tracks and resolves customer problems within established service level agreements.

    Analyzes service level data performance and works with customers to establish appropriate service level agreements.

    Evaluates proposed systems or system changes to determine their strategic fit within the organization.

    Communicates effectively with all customers, suppliers, and inside and outside contacts.

    Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the Company.

    1. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with area staff, other departments, and with management.

    Assists personnel in other departments to increase understanding of system operations and effectively integrate new technology.

    Keeps management well informed of area activities and of any significant problems.

    Develops reports, presentations, or updates as necessary to keep management informed of systems performance, systems life-cycles, technical problem management, project status and systems status.

    Actively engaged in meetings, communications, and projects.

    Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.

    Performs miscellaneous projects as assigned.

    Participates in continuous learning activities including training, self-study, and hands on testing and trial of new technologies.

    Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by management as deemed appropriate.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BA/BS in Computer Science. Certifications and experience may be substituted for education. Certifications and experience may be substituted for education. CCNA, GSEC, CISSP or other certifications are desired.

    Additional Symitar system training courses will be required, including ACH, transaction processing, and configuration management.

     

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum five years' experience in information systems technical support, which may be substituted with education and certifications.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

    Knowledge of network operations and all related computer hardware and software including virtualization and network management.

    Knowledge of LAN/WAN/VLAN’s, particularly Windows server, mainframe hardware and software.

    Information technology security controls, risk management, and security management.

    Knowledgeable in networks, Windows operating systems, active directory, peripheral equipment, Office and other software utilized by the Credit Union. Certifications, as appropriate, preferred. (MCSE, MCSA, Net+, Security+)

    Knowledge of end user computing systems including build image management and configuration, software, operating systems and peripherals.

    Knowledge of server configuration, server administration, active directory, and systems infrastructure.

    Knowledge of VMWare virtualization sufficient to effectively manage VM’s.

    Knowledge of backup and recovery systems sufficient to effectively recover systems in a disaster or to maintain ongoing operations.

    Knowledge of cloud computing and management of cloud service providers

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 configuration management

    Knowledge of Symitar and systems supporting core operations
