Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Triage Coordinator to serve as the critical link between our patients and providers. This full-time role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritize patient needs in a fast-paced OB/GYN environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for women's health and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Communication & Assessment
Answer and triage incoming patient phone calls, messages, and portal inquiries
Assess patient symptoms and concerns using established clinical protocols
Determine the urgency of patient's needs and escalate appropriately to providers
Provide clear, compassionate guidance to patients regarding their care
Document all patient interactions accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Clinical Coordination
Communicate patient concerns and clinical updates to physicians and nursing staff
Coordinate urgent and same-day appointments based on clinical priority
Follow up on lab results, test results, and prescription requests
Assist with prior authorizations and insurance-related clinical documentation
Monitor and manage provider task queues to ensure timely responses
Patient Education & Support
Provide patient education on prenatal care, postpartum care, and gynecological concerns
Answer routine questions about medications, procedures, and appointments
Guide patients through pre-operative and post-operative instructions
Offer emotional support to patients during stressful or difficult situations
Administrative Support
Maintain organized systems for tracking patient calls and follow-ups
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
Assist with quality improvement initiatives and protocol development
Collaborate with the front desk, medical assistants, and billing staff
Participate in staff meetings and continuing education opportunities
Qualifications
Required:
Education: Medical Assistant certification, LPN, or RN license preferred; or equivalent clinical experience in OB/GYN or women's health
Experience: Minimum 2 years in a clinical healthcare setting; OB/GYN experience strongly preferred
Skills:
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems: AthenaOne
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume environment
Professional, compassionate bedside manner
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
