    A Kaniksu Community Health, a Triage Nurse is not just responsible for providing excellent customer service. They are committed to providing an excellent patient experience while performing essential clinical or administrative work in a fast-paced, productive environment. YOU ARE an essential team member charged with assisting patients in managing their care at Kaniksu Community Health.

    Under the direction of the KCH Director of Nursing, KCH Charge Nurse and Medical Staff Providers and as a member of the Kaniksu Community Health Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Team; the Staff LPNAs a typical day as a Triage Nurse might include:

    • Document communications with patient in the patient's medical record.
    • Assess patient level of severity and instruct patient per triage protocols.
    • Schedule appointments for patients as needed.
    • Communicate patient needs or status to the provider teams as needed.
    • Obtain prior authorization as needed for medications, diagnostics, referrals, etc.
    • Review labs, diagnostics, etc. with patient per provider comments in the electronic medical record or per verbal direction of the provider.
    • Maintain a tracking log, documenting the time a patient called and the time of response.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Experience Needed to Land this Gig:

    • Associates Degree in Registered Nurse or equivalent required.
    • Minimum 1 year similar work or internship required. Experience in a community health center, public health or a community hospital is preferred, but not required.
    • Currently licensed to practice as a RN in the State of Idaho
    • Possess cognitive skills necessary to understanding medical instructions and identifying problem and offering solutions.
    • Possesses light typing and computer skills
    • Ability to demonstrate accuracy, proficiency and efficiency
    • Demonstrate effective people skills with the ability to communicate well with patients and families utilizing tact and professionalism.
