    Tribal Security Officer

    Reports to: Assistant Physical Resource Director

    Salary (Grade): $16.98 (G11-E)

    Status: Reg. Full-Time (Non-Exempt)

    Job Purpose & Position Overview

    This position is located at the Winnebago Physical Resource Department (PRD) in Winnebago, Nebraska. The purpose of this position is to provide essential security functions to ensure that Tribal facilities and properties are secure, with a primary focus on enforcing policies and ordinances. Additional duties will include maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for the tribal properties.

    Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.

    Performs regular duties according to established procedures, patrols and secure all areas of multiple Tribal properties, and maintain proper post assignments according to daily schedule and at times a rotation schedule between properties and weekly schedule.

    Maintains up to date knowledge of health and security policies and mandates in effect for the Winnebago community and ensure that all Winnebago residents follow prescribed behaviors, ordinances, curfews, etc.

    Maintains clear communication with other Tribal Security Officers, Tribal law enforcement and Tribal employees to ensure effective dissemination of information.

    Completes reports for all incidents on appropriate form and routes to supervisor.

    Responds to emergencies on Tribal property according to established procedures, watches for and reports all safety and health hazards, and cooperates with Tribal/local law enforcement officers as required.

    Assists in developing procedures for assessing safety and security of community members and clear definition of roles, responsibilities, and interaction with victims.

    Will be trained, in-house, for fogging and disinfecting a tribal building either scheduled or after any positive cases of health infections in the community.

    Assist other Physical Resource Departments with any health and safety duties as needed.

    Will be present, assess and report all activities associated with public safety indoors and outside of tribal buildings.

    Will perform and maintain seasonal duties around the perimeter of tribal buildings, which includes shoveling and salting entrances/exits to ensure community members, employees and visitors can enter and exit each building safely as needed.

    Will clear debris from tribal areas and dispose of it properly.

    Complete logs and reports and submit them in a timely manner to supervisor.

    Perform scheduled walk through of tribal buildings to ensure door locks, emergency exit lights, any hazards or damage are reported, walkways are safely accessible, etc.

    Remain at designated post throughout scheduled shift.

    Will evaluate tribal properties through surveillance video and complete thorough checks of all tribal buildings.

    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

    A drivers’ license is required.

    Must have knowledge of appropriate Tribal, state, and local laws relating to domestic violence and crime victims, legal terminology, and court practices and procedures.

    Must have advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Publisher.

    Must be able to interview victims and obtain relevant information, communicating effectively in a culturally sensitive manner.

    Must possess excellent verbal and written skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.

    Must be certified in CPR and AED (Automated external defibrillator).

    Must be able to shovel snow, sweep entrances, pick up debris.

    Must be able to organize, recognize and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for each tribal building.

    Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

    Must be able to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

    Must be available to work evening and weekend hours.

    Must possess ability to work independently, to work under supervision and to work in a team based and goal-oriented environment.

    Must demonstrate project management skills, including facility in managing and prioritizing projects with multiple and often competing deadlines, and ability to work under pressure.

    Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

    Local travel required.

    Education Preference:

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

    Training Requirements:

    As Directed by management

    Crowd control, use of force, workplace violence, and theft prevention.

    Physical Requirements:

    Normal office work which includes the ability to lift to 10 lbs.

    Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.

    While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.

    Mental Requirements:

    Reading, writing, calculating.

    Above average social interaction skills

    Reasoning/Analysis

    Works with minimal to no supervision

    Lift a minimum of 50lbs.

    Language Requirements:

    Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

    Must be able to employ professional verbal and written communications skills continually and effectively.
