    The purpose of the Principal R&D Engineer role is to effectively develop and deliver marker impacting surgical solutions and enhancements in the Foot & Ankle market.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop innovative process technology to anticipate customer needs and maintain competitive in the orthopedic/podiatric medical device industry
    • Perform market research to devise solutions to orthopedic/podiatric problems
    • Apply strong engineering principles to achieve product design requirements
    • Drafting/modeling in CAD (Solidworks)
    • Project management and execution of new product development from conceptualization to commercialization
    • Design and carry out mechanical tests as required 
    • Facilitate process improvements/qualifications
    • Translate customer & marketing recommendations to define product opportunities and technical design requirements
    • Build innovative and practical product, system & component design solutions
    • Work in a collaborative team environment

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering (Advanced Degree preferred)
    • 10+ years' experience in developing medical device products
      • Understand design controls as related to FDA 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485

      • Has led at least one large project from concept to launch as the project manager

      • Has led multiple large projects from concept to launch as the technical lead

      • Prior experience in Extremities or Spine

    • Versed in computational stress analysis, tolerance studies, and GD&T
    • Able to lead FMEA sessions and design review meetings
    • Able to select engineering materials
    • Excellent technical writing skills
    • Good interpersonal skills 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without supervision
    • Candidate is authorized to work in the United States
