The Customer Support Specialist - Technical Service & Development (Paper & Board, Latex Binders) will be based in Midland, MI. This is a hybrid role.
The Customer Support Specialist - Technical Service & Development provides Technical Service and Development expertise for the paper and board market in North America to strategic customers/partners. The role will be focused on solution development in the area of sustainable packaging with paper and board materials as a growing application and market segment. The Specialist will manage the relationship with new and existing customers, serving as the technical focal point for the organization as well as assist on special projects.

As the technical interface with customers, the role has a strong application and product development focus, with additional responsibilities for ensuring product quality meets customer needs, with responsibilities including:
- Leading innovation projects in the area of sustainable packaging solutions, in alignment with the Global Technical Service & Development Leader.
- Project Management - opportunity to lead project team
- Designing and initiating technical programs
- Building the required ecosystem to successfully deliver innovation targets
- Accountable for delivering key milestones on time.
- Demonstrating sound business acumen to ensure resources are spent on the highest value projects and activities
- Providing Technical Service to strategic customers
- Being a go-to expert for technical questions in the area of Paper & Board (application needs and properties, coating processes, formulation, rheology)
- Designing and initiating application lab programs to support the commercialization of existing products to strategic customers
- Supporting Technical Sales Representatives for strategic customers.
- Following the innovation system process, demonstrating required documentation, discipline, and timely communication.
- Being the Technical Lead/Focal point for marketing/commercial and other functions for initiatives in the area of Paper and Board/Packaging in North America
- Identifying and leading programs with ecosystem 3rd parties (institutes, consortiums, co-suppliers, technology partners, etc.)
Your Background
- MS degree in chemical science fields (chemical/paper engineering, chemistry) or equivalent, strong business acumen and training welcomed
- 10+ years of experience in the industry, including significant & relevant experience in Packaging Converting or similar disciplines
- Technical background (production, testing, and data interpretation) in packaging converting, board, or specialty papers, good knowledge in rheology and formulation.
- Understanding of key raw materials and application processes.

$48 - $63 / hr
