    Job Description

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Designs, develops and implements testing methods and equipment
    • Create test and manufacturing procedures along with quality procedures, test plans, root cause analysis and training of technicians supporting QA and Manufacturing departments.
    • Support the development of clear and concise assembly instructions (building quality into the manufacturing process), including those for first article or engineering release builds to include appropriate points of inspections during the assembly process.
    • Collaborate with engineers to establish/clarify test, qualification, verification and validation requirements.
    • Participate in the design and development for test automation and support
    • Devise and implement test strategies. This involves manipulating hardware to see its effect on software and test of software to ensure hardware reacts as expected.
    • Develop automated test scripts
    • Create and maintain a “tool crib” system for all test equipment, harnesses, cables and fixtures.
    • Responsible for maintaining engineering lab including equipment, bench areas and systems checked in for testing.
    • Investigate and recreate reported defects.
    • Work with other engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
    • Support QA in the tracking and documentation of all testing defects and resolutions (including but not limited to ECRs and DMRs)
    • RF Testing for both subsystem and system level testing (including noise testing)
    • Work with and apply technical expertise to internal customers to define and document instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning to satisfy test objectives.
    • Develop technical solutions to complex test issues and troubleshooting; proficient in the use of Logic Analyzers, Software based debugging tools, In-Circuit Emulators, RF Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and Signal Generators.
    • Work with bench techs (on engineering releases and as needed) in QA Department to find root cause and correct defects including corrective actions. (RCA/CAPA)
    • Work with Production Manager and QA Manager to help analyze/resolve product quality problems, manufacturing problems/methods.
    • Apply knowledge to improve existing manufacturing and quality processes.
      • Write test plans, procedures and reports based on test standards (such as but not limited to MIL-810, MIL-704, and DO-160)

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BSE required and minimum three years' experience in a manufacturing enviorment
    • Experience with functional tests for production hardware. You should have experience with both hardware and software components. Must be able read schematics (drawings, block diagrams, PCB layout) in order to figure out how to test a given product or component.
    • Experienced with lab equipment like scopes and function generators, Oscilloscopes, Digital Meters, Signal Generators.
    • Experienced with assembly of complex mechanisms and assemblies
    • Experienced with ISO9001 and AS9100
    • Strong root-cause analysis skills. (5-Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.)
    • Experience and understanding of electro-mechanical systems and software concepts
    • Deadline and detail oriented.
    • Able to communicate effectively and clearly to present technical approaches and findings.
    • Good writing skills to clearly define and document test procedures and redline documents as needed.
    • Strong deductive reasoning, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
    • Able to work independently and support Engineering, QA and Systems departments.
    • Proficient with Autodesk 3D Inventor, Altium, AutoCAD
      • Familiarity with MS Visual Studio, Source Control Software, (i.e. Subversion), Linux and VMWare – or the like, is a plus
    • Familiarity with ERP systems (Intuitive ERP is a plus)
    • Familiarity with QA Software
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Previous experience with RF Antenna and Telemetry systems is a plus
    • Previous experience with circuit design is a plus
    • Background and experience with embedded software and firmware is a plus

    GOALS AND OBJECTIVES IN THE FIRST 30/60/90 DAYS

    FIRST 30 DAYS

    • Develop a good and clear understanding of Troll Systems design and development procedures.
    • Develop a good and clear understanding of Troll Systems release process including revisions and items included in document packages.
    • Develop a methodology for test equipment inventory and tracking.
    • Take ownership of maintaining the Engineering Lab

    FIRST 60 DAYS

    • Demonstrate understanding of the Troll System line of products including subassemblies and components.
    • Demonstrate an ability to develop clear and concise Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)
    • Demonstrate an ability to design and release test fixtures, kits, cables etc…
    • Demonstrate an ability to work with production and quality teams to improve workflow, work instructions, testing procedures and methods.
    • Understand principles of the tools related to quality, including systematic problem solving through root cause analysis.

    FIRST 90 DAYS

    • Work independently (under guidance) to support production and quality departments as the engineering representative as needed.
    • Have the tool tracking and inventory methodology up and running.
    • Demonstrate understanding of ERP and file system structure.
    • Develop understanding and work with embedded software.

     

    Must be U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident holder for authorized access to controlled technology/data as subject to ITAR regulations. The position is located in Valencia, CA and relocation is not available for this position.
