    PROJECT ENGINEER

    A leading contract manufacturer of various snack food products in Pittsburgh, PA is currently seeking a distinguished Project Engineer to join our team. As an ideal candidate, you are a highly trained engineer with a proven track record implementing continuous improvement.  You bring a sense of urgency to your daily work and have demonstrated project management skills.

    DEFINITION OF SUCCESS

    A project engineer that can maximize project efficiency and profitability while determining project specifications and execute to completion. Develop scope and parameters for project design and implementation. Identify project responsibilities and driving project deliverables while working collaboratively across other functions of the organization.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Plans and executes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements such as scope, schedule, budget, and safety.

    ·        Researches and analyzes alternative equipment to improve the effectiveness of the overall manufacturing operation.

    • Ability to become subject matter expert in various types of highly automated food processing equipment including conveyors, mixers, ovens, wrappers, case packers, etc.
    • Works closely with maintenance and Plant Engineers to troubleshoot issues on automated assembly lines, eliminating downtime, and improving OEE.
    • Drives continuous improvement in conjunction with all functions of the organization.
    • Ability to become expert in the manufacturing processes for specific product families, developing a deep understanding of ingredients, formulas, and line optimization.
    • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
    • Communicate effectively during daily interactions with stakeholders and other cross functional team members including executive level status updates.
    • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
    • Closely manages the schedule of internal and external contributors, contractors, and consultants in accordance with customer contracts, budgets, and production schedules.
    • Determines technical specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
    • Prepares and presents project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions.
    • Seeks methods or procedures that reduce costs and/or increase production efficiencies.
    • Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress and resolving problems quickly.
    • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
    • Contributes to the overall engineering team effort by executing to the highest standard and accomplishing tangible results.
    • Ensures compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ·        Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline

    ·        Experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage

    o   Entry Level: 0 to 2 years

    o   Mid-Level: 2 to 7 years

    o   Senior Level: 7+ years

    ·        Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems

    ·        Analytical and math skills

    ·        Experience and understanding in Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, and 5S preferred

    ·        Effective interpersonal and written communication skills

    ·        Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

    ·        Proficient in MS Office suite including Excel and PowerPoint

    ·        Proficient in AutoCAD
