    Job Description

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The Facilities Manager is charged with ensuring that we have excellent school facilities for our students and staff. Through close work with the Facilities Managerand facility management vendor(s), the Facilities Manager engages in facility oversight, project management, asset management, and support of school operations to promote efficient and cost-effective use of school premises, facilities, equipment and materials.  This is an exempt position and reports to the Facilities Manager

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    CAMPUS MANAGEMENT - 75%

    • Collaborate with the facility management vendor(s) to provide optimal learning environments 

    • Support the operations team at each campus with various facility management needs

    • Coordinate facility maintenance/repair and small capital improvement projects

    • Track and report progress of projects and work orders on various digital platforms 

    • Lead routine site inspections of campus facilities and grounds with the facilities management vendor(s) to maintain awareness of all building and site conditions and operations

    • Manage communications for inclement weather actions, and support with response to campus-specific or org-wide emergencies (e.g. power outages, break-ins, etc.)

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for contractors/vendors and managing onsite visits

     

    ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT - 25%

    • Maintain and expand the KIPP DC facilities database (e.g. reports, drawings, manuals, etc.)

    • Own the accounts payable system approval route for facilities-related expenses

    • Support the utilization and standardization of facility platforms, processes and protocols

    • Support the refinement of the facility management process; identifying trends in facility issues across multiple campuses and helping develop sustainable, systematic solutions

    • Assist with management, procurement and negotiation of contracted services (e.g. facility management, landscaping, waste removal, etc. )

    • Assist with preparation and execution of major capital expenditure projects and initiatives

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required

    • Up to 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade, technical school or college, Associate’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree preferred

    • two to three years of relevant experience required 

    • three to five years of relevant experience preferred.

    • Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, etc.)

    • Availability outside of normal business hours to manage facility emergencies

    • Experience with vendor management and oversight

    • Familiarity with finance and accounting principles
