    PROJECT MANAGER

    MADISON, WISCONSIN

    Viking Electric is hiring a Project Manager to manage the details of larger electrical projects with our sales teams and customers for this market.

    As a project manager, the objective is to generate and maximize profitable sales in project business for Viking Electric through planning, organizing, and executing projects on-time while managing and increasing profitability and customer satisfaction.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    • Total project responsibility following quotations stage, including full management of customer orders, overseeing work to meet on-spec requirements (partnering with Project Sales with clarifying questions), and, on behalf of the company, resolving all customer or vendor disputes, and supervising proper completion of project documentation.
    • Resolve all disputes associated with issues as they arise throughout the project process. Work with customers, vendors, and other Viking departments to proactively resolve problems.
    • Manage customer orders from time purchase order is secured through final billing, expediting shipments, managing weekly ship schedule processes, placing change orders, returning product, resolving freight claims, and reconciling project billings upon project completion.
    • Responsible for developing and modifying processes to address project needs and customer expectations including, but not limited to, project progress reporting, quality assurance updates, documentation, and change order adjustments. Continually develop and improve processes that enhance the customer experience.
    • For staged projects, manage the DTS process according to customers’ expectations and the project schedule. Work closely with customers, project specialists, and warehouse associates to anticipate and plan for material receipts and deliveries and to resolve problems.
    • Independently lead project completion, manage internal, external, company customers and third parties, and manage vendor relationships. At completion of project, prepare job recap and conduct meeting with relevant parties to evaluate the whole project and discuss results and opportunities for improvement.
    • Promote fair and honest dealings with suppliers. Manage vendor relationships to benefit Viking, our customers, and the suppliers.
    • Partner with Project Sales I and II associates to provide support on bid day when necessary.
    • Exercise full autonomy and discretion to implement project requirements to meet customer expectations.
    • Participate in continuous training and development opportunities to stay current with and increase industry knowledge.

    *THIS POSITION WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID OFFICE/REMOTE WORK - CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO WORK FROM THE MADISON OFFICE AT LEAST 2-3 DAYS PER WEEK

    Required Experience

    • 3-5 years experience in the Electrical industry.
    • Experience with electrical codes and a working knowledge of the electrical design process and techniques is preferred.
    • Technology skills including knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe.
