Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in New York probate and estate administration, with the ability to manage cases independently from start to finish with minimal supervision. The candidate must be capable of drafting a variety of legal documents, gathering and organizing asset information, preparing accounts, and handling receipts and release agreements. Responsibilities: • Handle probate and estate administration matters with minimal supervision • Draft legal documents, including petitions, affidavits, waivers, and consents, as well as other probate-related documents • Gather and organize asset information, including identifying and securing estate assets, valuation, and inventory • Prepare formal accountings for estates, including reconciliation of financial statements, income, and disbursements • Draft and prepare receipts, release indemnification, and refunding agreements for beneficiaries • Coordinate with executors, administrators, and other professionals involved in estate administration • File court documents and ensure compliance with New York probate court rules and deadlines. • Communicate effectively with clients, financial institutions, and government agencies to obtain necessary information • Assist with the distribution of estate assets in accordance with wills or applicable law • Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring all required documentation is properly completed and filed Qualifications: • At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting • Talented communicator and writer • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education • Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills • Extensive knowledge of New York probate and estate administration procedures • Strong drafting skills and experience preparing legal documents • Proficiency in estate accounting and asset-gathering processes • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Strong communication and client-service skills • Proficient in legal software, Microsoft Office Suite, and document management systems • Paralegal certification is preferred but not required Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 yearly
