    OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW 

    At TuSimple we are looking for an experienced Sensor System Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. You will work cross-functionally with all engineering teams to build one of the most advanced systems operating on the roads. Your passion, determination, and expertise will be key points to overcome obstacles that will lead to a safe and commercially ready self-driving truck.

     

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with the product team to analyze product requirements and decompose them into technical implementation.

    • Collaborate with the sensor team and algorithm team to design the sensing architecture taking into consideration all functional objectives, performance, safety, and integration constraints. 

    • Collaborate with suppliers to understand their roadmap and provide them with inputs with our requirements.

    • Optimize system performance and cost.

    • Recommend, design, and implementation of functions, features, software/electronic interface, and applications in conjunction with various technologies and needs.

    • Active reviewer during the engineering development process to ensure its thorough execution.

    • Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation.

    • Ensure forward and backward traceability for every requirement using our corporate requirement management tool.

    • Take the initiative to identify, communicate, and execute high-impact improvements.

    • Report progress and issues to the system engineering manager and project managers.

     

    EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Experience in hardware/software development cycle (Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, and Maintenance) of electronic systems.

    • At least 15 years of experience working with sensors - Lidar, Camera, Radar

    • Deep knowledge of sensor technology used in autonomous vehicles, in particular for cameras, lidar, and radars.

    • Skilled in the utilization of analysis tools (Matlab, Python, …)

    • Excellent skills in analyzing, decomposing, and structuring a complex system

    • Ability to decompose a system into functional blocks and build optimal allocation.

    • Experience working with the algorithms team.

    • Skilled in writing actionable requirements and structuring them in requirement management tools.

    • Experience operating in an Agile methodology environment.

    • Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills.

    • Proven ability to work under firm deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    • Automotive Industry

    • Autonomous driving or safety electronics systems experience

    • Functional safety process ISO 26262, SOTIF ISO 21448

    • Sensor simulation tools
