    Job Description

    The Engineering assistant will assist Turbotec's engineering and laboratory by providing support for prototype/new product development, refrigerant testing, laboratory services and return goods analysis. Assists with certification test, and other ancillary/associated tests as may be required. Calibrate gages, thermocouples, RTDs and other sensors as required. Work in compliance with Turbotec's SOP's and referenced industry standards. This position will report to the Product Engineering Manager.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Help prepare test setups for heat transfer evaluation and heat transfer testing as directed via test request and verbal instruction.
    • Support in any Engineering related activities involving product. development/testing/external compliance.
    • Assists in setting up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
    • Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects when required.
    • Assist with UL compliance and calibration of production pressure test gauges. and implementation of UL CTDP requirements.
    • Measures parts for conformity with specifications.
    • Executes tests for cleanliness audits, pressure drop, mechanical measurements and other tests as directed by test request and verbal instructions.
    • Documents and stores data per Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Return goods analysis that includes root cause analysis.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Ability to use brazing torch, soldering iron, and electrical multimeter.
    • Basic electrical knowledge with single and three phase wiring.
    • Basic knowledge of fluid dynamic principles. Must be able to read drawings.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification (Required)
    • Forklift Operator License (Desirable)

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Microsoft Outlook; Internet Explorer; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word.
    • LabView knowledge will be a plus.
    • Data acquisition systems programming.

    Additional Information

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work enviornment is usually moderate.
